Let’s tie up the loose sock threads, shall we? Busy Mom asked what “the proper color sock for viewing between dark brown shoes and khaki pants” might be. Answer: khaki, or something light. NOT dark brown; in this particular case, matching socks to shoes will make your legs look stumpy. If you’re feeling daring, you can coose a third color (navy or hot pink or lime green) and make a statement with your socks; I love the idea of “freelancing” socks. But do this carefully and thoughtfully, because it WILL draw attention to your ankles.

Dress to Impress

Recently, the lovely Kelly raised an excellent point. She wrote, “Another piece of my wardrobe that I’ve found to be lacking is the business/interview outfit. I’ve had to attend the occasional business meeting since I became a stay-at-homer, because of my freelance work, and I have no workplace-appropriate clothes left in my closet. So that’s another piece to add to my wardrobe shopping list.”
Did someone say shopping? I love shopping.

On Your Feet!

I had a very nice e-mail this week from the lovely Jeana: “I have a shoe question for you, regarding mules and clogs and specifically if you’re supposed to wear socks or stockings with them, and if so what kind? I have some dark brown dress shoes that are ‘backless’ and I love the way they look with pants, but when I sit down and my socks are visible I feel like a dork. Any advice? Lives are in the balance, but you know, no pressure.”
No no! None at all.

What Moms Wear

Recently, the lovely Abbey e-mailed me with a Very Important Question:
“In one short week, my oldest child is starting preschool. Granted, it is only 4 hours a week, but the smell of freedom is wafting around my kitchen. My Problem? Nothing I have to wear goes with freedom. Any suggestions on a few grown up wardrobe essentials that are also kid friendly?”
Mmmm, smell that? It’s the scent of KIDS IN SCHOOL. Breathe deeply. Smells like lemon, doesn’t it?

Because Your Cell Phone Has To Go SOMEWHERE
November 22, 2006 · 1 Comment
I love handbags. I do not believe that a woman can own too many handbags. I am, however, surprised by how many women are carrying the wrong handbag–wrong size, wrong season, wrong material. Your bag is more than just a home for your cell phone; it’s an integral part of your wardrobe. The wrong bag can completely undermine an outfit. It’s time to ditch the wrong bag and find one that really works for you.
