Hi Susan,
Yes, my problem does require 3 exclamation points. I have a wedding to go to on January 13th and I don’t know what to wear. The biggest issue is that this is a wedding of the year that will have full media coverage, several celebrities and a lot of plastic surgery induced fugures and models walking around. Just enough stuff to make me want to hide in a corner and not be noticed. I don’t want to go, but it cannot be helped since the celebrity that is getting married is one of my hubby’s biggest clients. The night ceremony will be in a church and the reception is a cocktail casino bit. I want to look nice, but not like I tried too hard. Do you know what I mean? Oh, and I have been on a diet and am losing weight so I am not really sure what size I will be by then. I am guessing an 8? (hopefully) I don’t want to spend too much money because I am hoping I will never have an occasion to have to wear such thing again. (I am a happiest in my birks type of girl) Please help! Maybe I should just send you a plane ticket to come down and here and shop with me :)

Dear wise one,
I need serious help! I’ve been wrangled into being a liasion for a group of vendors at a “Holiday Expo” that my moms group has helped put together. Basically, I get to be the vendors’ bitch for the day: answering questions, giving directions, and bringing them whatever they need. I was originally supposed to man the registration desk for an hour, so I was just going to wear jeans and probably a turtleneck. Now that I have a more “important” job, I feel I should dress up a bit more. I’m a SAHM, so I live in jeans and turtlenecks and don’t know how to dress myself up prettily. HELP!
Thanks,
Brandi

I have a confession: I always have a hard time figuring out what to wear to Wade’s work functions. Not as hard a time as I have finding a sitter, but still! Hard. Some of this has to do with the fact that my work wardrobe consists entirely of things that can go in the washing machine, but there is also an element of not knowing what exactly is appropriate in this particular situation. Because you know, I don’t work there! And I don’t know these people!
So what do you wear to HIS office party? And what should HE wear?

From the Holiday E-mail Bag:
I have a question that only your expertise can answer!!
We have our office Christmas party on a Tuesday in December at a wine bar in downtown Raleigh. I normally wear business casual to work (sometimes a jacket, sometimes not). Do I go to the party in the same clothes from work or do I change??
I need some help!!

I’ve been cleaning out closets, which has resulted in a mountain of Stuff To Get Rid Of in our guest room (I met my housekeeper at the door last week and said, “TAKE IT ALL!”). When I cleaned out the guest room closet, I found a beautiful silk Ann Taylor suit that I had totally forgotten I owned.
I haven’t worn it in, oh, five years, mostly because it’s too big. I pulled it out and initially put it in the giveaway pile, but then I took my also-too-big black cocktail dress to the tailor and as he was pinning the sides and I was starting to see how lovely that dress will be once it’s altered, I started to think about the suit and about how for all this time I’ve had these two perfectly beautiful and classic and FUNCTIONAL dresses in my closet and I haven’t worn them because I just couldn’t get it together to have them tailored.
